TobyChess started as Tim Tobiason Chess Supplies in 2002. I began the business selling chess books, equipment, chessbase software and odds and ends at chess tournaments. Soon I began to scan in older, copyright expired chess books to sell at the adult tournaments to the old timers who still read descriptive chess notation. This also allowed us to sell hundreds of all time classic chess books for less than $1 each on CD.

In 2003, we found a top programmer and decided we could create new kinds of chess training and entertainment that other programs couldn't offer. It would also become professional software for ordinary players. In a few years "Deep Tactics" became the largest selling software by far at the major tournaments (World Open, National HS Championships, etc).

My daughter Traci created our first internet presence with our e-bay store which sold over $3,000 in its first full month (Christmas). I decided to learn from her example so here is our web site. Enjoy!
